ONRC / ONF and Pavement Use Checks

14 October 2022

The regular updating of estimates of traffic volume on the network can be used to check for any changes to network groups such as One Network Road Classification (ONRC) or One Network Framework (ONF) designations. These classifications have guidelines as to their application to give consistency nationally. The guidelines have several criteria aside from volume. So it is recommended that audit checks be set up to flag carriageway sections that are more than one band away from the AADT estimate.

In the RAMM database, there are pavement use categories set up based on fixed AADT volumes. These can be checked as part of the estimate audits (Step 8) and be triggered where the estimate does not match the pavement use band. There is a process in RAMM that can be run that will update pavement use based on the latest estimate.
